best remote beach in Nicaragua, Little Corn Island, Cocal Beach

Our top ten reasons to come to Little Corn Island

Be sure to see our "tropical island  disclaimer" on the FAQs page (you will be glad you did)!  We also strongly urge anyone considering confirming a reservation with LCBB to read our cancel/refund policies and PLEASE purchase "Trip Insurance"!

Save money when you are here by bringing cash to pay the balance of your bill as we charge a huge 12% (most places on the island if they take cards charge only 7 or 8%) convenience fee for card use on the island!  We apologize for this but all cards charges used here at our resort are run through our US address and we are on a remote tropical island where there is no mail, bank, atm or western union and this is the actual cost we incur to get the money from card use back to the island so we can pay all of our bills which are incured here.

We now offer an optional "Room, Activity, Dining and Drinks" (RADD) deal.  Includes a DISCOUNT ON YOUR CABIN, free beer, soda, juice and water along with any two meals a day.   Big discounts on massage and yoga as well as 40% discounts on wine and rum drinks.  Activities like snorkeling and diving are discounted too!  When you choose the "RADD" deal you save money on everything at LCBB.  See our "rates" page for details.

A tray with coffee & tea was quietly placed on our porch just after sunrise. We had the D&A (RADD) package and ate all of our meals there (50 total - we were a family of 5 adults), and every one was delicious.

About Our Accommodations:

Situated on the beach, each bungalow has an en-suite bathroom with toilet, sink and a hot shower (available only when village power is being utilized).  Also, the cabin has quality clean white linens (under which lie the best beds we could find in Nicaragua), mosquito nets, soft bath towels, beach towels (upon request), bathroom mats, mirrors, electricity with multiple outlets (from about 2:00pm to around 5:00am), reading lights and running water.  For your comfort all bungalows are equipped with fans (some with ceiling fans and re-chargable power), a footwash at the base of the stairs, sand catching floor mats, towels to clean your feet and brooms and dust pans (don't worry though, we will be in every day to make your bed, clean your bathroom, tidy up and sweep).

Currently, we believe we are the only resort on LCI that offers free Satellite WIFI if you have your own device in your cabin!

All bungalows (Bunkhouses accepted)  have French doors that open on to a 4’ by 14’ covered veranda (Master Suite Gullivers have larger verandas). Each of the cabins has a beautiful view of the beach and the ocean. No bungalow (Bunkhouses accepted) is farther from the sea than 80’ some are as close as 45’.

Master Suite Gulliver bungalows are our most comfortable, spacious and airy accommodations.  The MSG's 20' by 14' ground floor features the islands (as far as we know) only KING SIZE BED with king size pillows (with musquitto net).  A comfortable seating area with reading lights, security box, ceiling fan, pedestal and wall fans, refridgerator, game table, cabinets to store your clothes, lots of hooks, private ensuite bath with hot shower and a 45% larger veranda (than the Crusoe) with french doors offering a splendid view of our infinity pool  (the Caribbean Sea).  There is also a loft accessed by a bamboo ladder that is home to a double bedMaster Suite Gulliver cabins all have rechargable power that allows all the fans and the upstairs and bathroom lights to work after village power goes off in the morning so you can finish a great nights sleep.

Crusoe bungalows have a queen and a full (double) bed (with musquitto nets) in a hotel room type layout.  French doors open to a slightly smaller deck than a Master Suite and the cabin sits right on the beach.  An en-suite bath, hot showersitting area, fan, night table lamp, reading light, security box, and game table are included in the cabin.

Palm tree shaded bungalows on a remote beach on Little Corn Island Nicaragua Master Suite Crusoe  is our latest improvement in your choices of comfort Little Corn Style.  The "MSC" offers a king size bed (with musquitto net), king size pillows, sitting area, reading lights, cabinets to store your stuff, plenty of hooks, multiple power outlets and re-chargable power allowing your fan and bathroom light to operate until around 7:30 am so you can complete a great nights sleep.  The rest of the emenities are similar to the Crusoe including a security box.

Bunkhouses 1 and 2:  Our "economy" bungalow offering is situated in our garden area where our rescued iguanas reside.  Only a one minute walk to the beach these bungalows share ("jack and Jill" style) a bathroom with each other that now features a hot shower (when village power is being utilized).  Sharing a common porch, these bungalows can sometimes be a great place to hang out with new acquaintances or, if you prefer a great place for quiet seclusion relaxing in a hammock.  While the price is substantially lower and the accommodations more egalitarian, you get all of the other ammenties (towels, WIFI, fan,  electrical outlets, clean white sheets, comfortable beds, security, restaurant and bar, etc.), that guests in our other bungalows enjoy.

LCI TIP: Some families rent the whole bunkhouse as a great island family getaway!

Bunkhouse 1:

A double bed and two singles in the form of a bunkbed with musquitto nets.  Great for 3 or 4 friends who plan to spend most of their time diving or exploring the island and are on a budget.

Bunkhouse 2:

A double bed and a single bed (with musquitto nets).   A good place for the economy minded couple or a small family.

Turned Turtle Bar and Restaurant (no, we don't serve turtle!):

"The food is superb and the drinks are sublime . . . I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to walk to other parts of the island and was relieved when she had little interest . . . there is no reason to leave."

Our stylish bistro type restaurant is unlike any other on the island.  Please remember though that we DO NOT consider ourselves a "fine dining" establishment :)  We are more of a "no shoes, no shirt . . . no problem" kind of place!  Comfortably lit, with a music mix that fits the time of day, our bamboo dining tables sit on either the restaurant deck 3 feet above the beach or right on the beach at the waters edge.   You can expect quality service, excellent food and a friendly greeting from one of our Nicaraguan service staff.   Breakfast (starting at 2.99US), Lunch (starting at 4.5US), and Dinner (which is the islands only 4 plate dinner that includes starter, soup or salad, main with veggies (somewhat rare in Nicaragua strangely enough) and dessert start as low as 9US.   Dessert and appetizers like our gourmet home made Ice Cream (Roasted Coconut Chocolate), fresh to order homemade corn chips with our made from scratch salsa and bean dip or our 2 bean arugula hummus are served most of the day.  Click menu to check out our selection.  Our prices put us right in the middle of the pack value wise of all the top rated restaurants on the island. We hope our food quality, consistency and service make us "top" of the pack in our guests minds! An example of value for instance: another highly regarded restaurant on LCI serves a 3 course meal for $15US, while 6 of our 4 plate dinners are priced from $9 to $14.

Turned Turtle Bar:

The Turned Turtle Bar features our delicious Margaritas (huge and absolutely no mixes), Big Jeffs'  Mudhole  and our FAMOUS Pina Coladas.   We also strive to have the best wine selection on Little Corn Island, featuring wines from Napa Valley, Australia, Chile and Argentina (we invite you to take advantage of our 40% discount on wine and rum drinks with our RAD deal). Enjoy our comfortable “social area” playing one of our games and sipping on a nice
glass ofwine. Of course we serve cold (most of the time) beer, juice, soda and other beverages to quench any thirst.

Let's Go Fishing:

We can set you up with native fishing captains to take you out to the best spots for a little ocean fishing.    Be sure to ask the captain ("Dopey") we refer you to if they can prepare the fish for your evening meal.  Disclaimer:  We recommend what we consider the most reliable and competent captains.  We receive no compensation and have no financial relationship with those we refer.   We just know who shows our clients the best time, shows up when they say they will, has a reliable boat and engine and charges a fair rate for the experience provided.

Remote Little Corn Island where cabins on the beach and solitude are the norm.

Things to bring:

  • Bug spray (you will be visiting a tropical island, staying at a resort on the beach that is surrounded by jungle, there ARE bugs, we do all we can to mitigate them but they are innumerable and persistent)
  • Flashlight or headlamp
  • Rain jacket or umbrella (for the tropical rain storm)
  • Flip flops
  • US dollars are accepted all over Nicaragua and the island (they will only be accepted on the islands if they are clean, unmarked, not torn and readable, so be sure to get clean money for this part of your trip).  Of course Nicaraguan Cordobas are accepeted as well
  • Battery operated alarm clock (we have no wake up service)
  • Light sweater for the 77 degree evenings
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen (keep in mind, some lotions are natural and better for the reef.)
  • Books
  • Day pack
  • Any thing else that will make your stay comfortable for you.
  • There are some small stores on the island that have a limited selection of life’s little necessities.

If you have any specific questions about what to bring or how things work  you can reach us via email at info@littlecornbb.com or call us at our bar  # 011 505-8-333-0956.

Look forward to sharing our paradise with you!

LCB&B

We now accept MC and V credit cards, a convenience fee applies. If you would like to avoid this rather hefty fee we also accept US Dollars and Nicaraguan Cordobas for your payment after your stay.
